Hiring – Payroll Manager / Bookkeeper

About the role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Payroll Manager/Bookkeeper who enjoys a hands-on role, client interaction and managing a varied workload.

Reporting to a Manager or Director, you will take ownership of the day-to-day bookkeeping and payroll needs for a diverse portfolio of clients, with the support of a collaborative team. You will play a key role in delivering accurate, compliant and timely financial services, building strong client relationships and providing a consistently high level of support.

Specific responsibilities you will undertake are as follows but not limited to:

  • Processing monthly and weekly payroll schemes accurately and on time
  • Managing HMRC submissions, pension submissions and auto enrolment duties
  • Preparing and submitting monthly CIS Returns
  • Dealing with ad hoc client queries and providing ongoing support
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of payroll-related tax legislation, always ensuring ongoing compliance
  • Using and supporting clients with cloud-based accounting software
  • Processing sales invoices and purchase invoices
  • Completing bank reconciliations
  • Assisting with accounts preparation
  • Delivering efficient, effective and professional client service at all times
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients

About you

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable payroll administration experience, ideally gained within a practice-based payroll bureau environment.

We are looking to engage with positive, professional individuals, who demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills. You will ideally have at least two years’ experience working within an accountancy practice and take a proactive, organised approach to your work.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex information
  • The ability to work consistently to deadlines and targets
  • A collaborative team-focused approach, while also being confident working independently
  • Payroll experience (knowledge of Brightpay is preferred but not essential)
  • Experience using cloud accounting software, particularly Xero
  • You will have the ability to demonstrate strong experience within an accounts department
  • Commitment to delivering outstanding client service
  • A positive, pragmatic and professional attitude
  • Good technical knowledge with a willingness to continue learning

Job Type: Part Time (24 Hours)

Pay: £17,100.00 – £19,968.00 per year
