National Apprenticeship Week offers us the chance to celebrate the achievements of our apprentices and raise awareness of the career opportunities available to those looking to start their professional journey.
Apprenticeships provide a valuable opportunity for individuals to specialise in areas they are passionate about, while gaining hands-on experience. We believe in nurturing talent from within our team, investing in the next generation to help them develop their skills and expertise.
Our team are all at different stages of their training journey, from Level 2 AAT to Level 3 AAT. The apprenticeship programme allows individuals to gain their qualification through McArthur Dean Training, as well as developing on the foundations and learning new skills within the workplace. We asked our team what they thought about their apprenticeship:
What led you to choose an apprenticeship?
Emma – I chose to do an apprenticeship because I wanted to continue with my education whilst also gaining hands on experience in the workplace.
Annabel – Being able to work hands on has helped me develop real, practical skills and a strong understanding of how things work, which is one of the main reasons why I chose an apprenticeship. Since the start of my apprenticeship, I’ve gained valuable experience, grown in confidence, and been able to apply what I’ve learned straight away in a working environment.
What is your favourite part about an apprenticeship?
Emma – My favourite part about an apprenticeship is being able to develop my skills and my career whilst working alongside a team of professionals.
Annabel – My favourite part of an apprenticeship is gaining a deeper understanding of processes by learning while working, as it allows you to apply knowledge in real situations and understand it more effectively.
What advice would you offer someone who is thinking about doing an apprenticeship?
Annabel – If you are thinking about doing an apprenticeship, it can be a great way to gain real life experience while learning on the job. Look into different training programs that match your interests and career goals. Always remember that nothing is permanent and it’s okay to have second thoughts or change your mind later. Having an apprenticeship is a chance for you to learn and see what you enjoy doing so if it does not feel right, you can always look for other options. Your career path is up to you, so take your time to find what suits you best.
Emma – Apply for an apprenticeship in a career that you find interesting and have the passion for, give it 100% effort, and don’t give up – the hard work will pay off.
