New Lockdown Grants Announced

New Lockdown Grants

Following on from the Prime Minister’s announcement last night, the Chancellor Rishi Sunak has announced one-off new lockdown grants for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses; worth up to £9,000 per property to help businesses through to the Spring.

The grant is provided on a per-property basis to support businesses through the latest restrictions.

The one-off top-up grants will be given to closed business and the this will be calculated based on the rateable value of the property:

  • £4,000 for businesses with a rateable value of £15,000 or under
  • £6,000 for businesses with a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000
  • £9,000 for businesses with a rateable value of over £51,000

All payments will need to be applied for through your local council – as soon as we have further information on applications, we will keep you updated.

The new grants come in addition to the existing support already available; including the Local Restrictions Support Grants, extended furlough scheme until April and 100% business rates relief for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses.
