Find out what Ryan thinks of the first 2 years at S Smith & Co ….
What have you enjoyed the most about the past 2 years at S Smith & Co?
Learning new skills, I feel like I am constantly expanding my skill set here and it is a great feeling, it just builds my confidence in my job role.
How did you adapt to working from home during the COVID pandemic?
Not being able to see anyone face to face was a challenge communication wise, but with the help of Microsoft teams and the voice call feature on teams speaking to everyone and getting help was effortless. This made working from home so much easier as I was getting the same amount of support as I would in the office.
What new skills have you gained since completing your first-year apprenticeship in 2020?
I have learnt a lot over my 2 years at S Smith & Co, the main skill I have gained however would be payroll. Learning how to process payroll and everything surrounding payroll, for example learning about pension deductions and submissions, has been fun and has definitely helped boost my confidence within my job role.
What do you enjoy most about completing our client’s payroll?
The wages calculations are my favourite element of payroll, especially when there is a few elements to someone’s pay it adds that extra step to it and it really gives me chance to test my knowledge and skill.
